July 2021: Lockdown ‘hasn’t gone away, you know!” – but the signs are that in a few more months we might all be freed from the l-o-n-g home-imprisonment-sentence that we’ve all endured to avoid either catching or spreading Covid-19.
From July, there will be a gradual resumption of our weekly BWG walks.
(Scroll down for relevant details)
However, please note well that until further notice the Social Distancing guidelines of the past 15 months MUST continue to be observed when TRAVELLING TO, DURING and RETURNING FROM scheduled walks – i.e.
Before the walk:
- If you have any symptoms OR if you recently had contact with anyone with
symptoms,
then please do not go on the walk -
If driving, please take *ONLY*
passengers who live with you...
- Split the group into two if there are more than about 10 persons
On the walk:
- Keep a 2-metre distance from everyone else, therefore no clustering around maps, no group photos, no helping one another over stiles, no huddling on a bench for lunch.
- Uphill exertion means heavier
breathing and therefore more risk.
Be particularly mindful of distancing if you or anyone else is puffing-&-panting. - Walk single file on paths too narrow for more than one person.
- Always carry one or more Face-Masks with you - just in case.
- Each person should have their own Hand Sanitizer to use after stiles etc.
- Avoid touching other people's gear (Walking Sticks, Rucksacks, etc).
After the walk:
-
· Quarantine your equipment for 3 days and/or sterilise it.
Also: Keep a contacts list just in case the worst happens. Names & phone numbers should suffice. Best be done beforehand, electronically, to avoid sharing pens and
pieces of paper.

“Climb if
you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence,
and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime.
Do nothing in haste; look well to each step; and from the beginning think what
may be the end.”

"Scrambles Amongst the Alps", written in 1871) <=
