Until further notice, the recommended guidelines to follow on ALL walks:

Please note well that the usual Social Distancing guidelines MUST continue to be observed when TRAVELLING TO, DURING and RETURNING FROM scheduled walks – i.e.

Before the walk

· If you have any symptoms OR if you recently had contact with anyone with symptoms, then please stay at home !

· If driving, please take *ONLY* passengers who live with you...

· It is advisable to split the group into two if there are more than about 10 persons.

On the walk:

· Keep a 2-metre distance from everyone else, therefore no clustering around maps,
no group photos, no helping one another over stiles, no huddling on a bench for lunch.

· Uphill exertion = heavier breathing = risk-factor
Be mindful of distancing if you or anyone else is puffing-&-panting.

· Walk single file on paths too narrow for more than one person.

· Always carry one or more Face-Masks with you - just in case.

· Each person should have their own Hand Sanitizer to use after stiles etc.

· Avoid touching other people's gear (Walking Sticks, Rucksacks, etc).

After the walk:

· It’s advisable to quarantine your equipment for 3 days and/or sterilise it.

Plus:

· It is essential to keep a contacts list just in case of disasters…
Just names & phone numbers should suffice.  (Plus car reg.numbers, maybe?)
Best be done beforehand, electronically, to avoid sharing pens & scraps of paper.

BWG Walks normally take place on SUNDAYs, unless otherwise specified. Note also that we NORMALLY meet up at 08:00 AM for A & B walks and at either 09:30 or 10:00 for C walks.  However, UNTIL the pandemic-related lockdown restrictions are abolished then a text message will be sent to members a day or two before each outing in which a “Whereabouts-en-route-we-will-all-meet” location will be specified.  ( That’s why there are all those “T.B.C” timetable entries above! )

Once ‘normality’ returns then so too will our old custom of ‘Meet-up-beforehand-in-Blarney’.

•  In pre-pandemic times, BWG members usually met up near McElligotts Pharmacy in Blarney.

•  Text-message notifications are sent to members a few days in advance of each walk.

•  If you plan to attend a walk then please confirm in advance via text-msg to the walk leader.

•  Prospective new members are welcome to come on three free walks before formally joining.

•  Annual Membership is €50 (But there’s a discount during ‘Pandemic Lockdown’!)

“Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence,
and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime.
Do nothing in haste; look well to each step; and from the beginning think what may be the end.”
